Really interesting! Armstrong’s particular theory comes through in her introduction to A Case for God. In my view, she comes very close to reducing religion to ethics, which is something liberal Protestantism has been criticized for doing. Take, for example, "God is love." I interpret this as teaching that love is the source or basis of existence. Even though our acts of love (and feelings!...which Armstrong also discounts relative to conduct) involve "God is love" being actualized, there is also the sense irrespective of one's conduct that existence itself is love. I take the transcendent wisdom of the latter to be just as important as conduct in religious terms. I’ve just posted a critique (http://deligentia.wordpress.com/2009/10/10/a-case-for-god/).

"Bleeding souls and broken hearts,
we venture to walk the path of life alone,
Friends and foes all mingle into one, hopes and desires elude us,
Yet we go on walking alone towards the unknown,
This despair , we feel only death will end, but wii it
We are still not sure of ,
Yet we walk on .. treading thorns
Thinking our blood will cleanse our sins
That we will be born anew with happiness,
Yet, What is happiness I never learnt.
Its all wrapped in the word "perhaps",
So perhaps there will be a light at the end of the tunnel,
Perhaps there will be peace and love where there is light,
Perhaps there will be a better life with peace and love....
The chain builds on as we walk along the path of miserable existance..."

Thank you for this wonderful write up. Its just by chance that I came across your page . Now I realize that it was a treasure hunt and I am lucky to carry home a big booty.
Thank you once again.

Regards.

Mr. Evren,
Your responsibility is to educate us, 'coz you have the magic of pedagogy. My responsibility is to flatter you, 'coz I have the magic of "flatteragogy". Have you heard of this field? It's a new field and soon, they will open a faculty in Oxford. But I forgot the name of the founder.. Nur something, if I am not mistaken ;)))

Nur, thank you for your praise concerning my English though my English is far away from deserving this praise. Nevertheless, I had to confess to myself that my pride has been flattered by your remarks.
